Title: Additional Guidance regarding NSF Biosketch Format.

OSP has received clarification from NSF on some information required in the Biosketch. Although this will not be included in a system check, we wanted to alert you to this new information.

Section (e) of the Biosketch is a list of Collaborators & Other Affiliations. Different types of affiliated persons must be reported for different lengths of time. The NSF requires each Biosketch to include related persons as follows:

  • collaborators and co-authors (4 years)
  • co-editors (past 2 years),
  • your own thesis advisors and postdoctoral sponsors (lifetime)
  •  students you served as thesis advisor (lifetime)
  • postdoctoral scholars sponsored (5 years)

The total number of graduate students advised and postdoctoral scholars sponsored also must be identified.

Please be sure to include the names of ALL the students you have served as a thesis advisor to in this section. This information is partially used by NSF to avoid any potential conflicts of interest with peer reviewers
